Timbercreek Horse (ADA) Campground

1240LT2240075 | Prime Contractor |$1.7 M | November 2023

This environmentally sensitive, remote location project was a multi-faceted reconstruction that included road repair, water line extension, camping pad reconstruction, creek foot bridge replacements, path reconstruction, vault toilet, rock walls, new signage, wire fencing, lantern hooks, and horseshoe pits. Located in a remote area of Nevada, this project required extensive stakeholder communication and logistics planning to ensure substantial completion prior to the close of the campground for the winter season. Weekday horse camp closures, extended hours, and weekend work was all required to timely complete this project. Sourcing the rock for the road base, tent pads, and rock walls presented a challenge as native material in the required quantities was not readily available. Adapt requested and owner allowed, on-site mining for material to take place at a burrow pit located near the campground. Another challenge was the use of an old topographic survey for the tent pad reconstruction. Actual on-site conditions and survey elevations were substantially different. Adapt, at the request of the owner, provided layout recommendations and redesigned the tent pads to maintain the objectives of the project.

The endeavor encompassed diverse improvements such as shower reconfigurations, the integration of ADA-compliant towel dispensers, and installation of a recessed ceiling light linked to an existing occupancy sensor system, complete with a manual switch for convenience. The initiative has monumentally elevated accessibility and ADA standards by eliminating hindrances, optimizing turning space, and introducing innovative elements, including a multi-rise wheelchair lift, expanded doors with openers and ADA buttons, a Rath Emergency Call Box system, and supplementary electrical circuits, all while maintaining adherence to Fire & Life Safety regulations. The project showcases a spectrum of vital attributes designed to amplify accessibility and comply with stringent ADA guidelines, entailing comprehensive overhauls of lighting and electrical distribution systems. A pivotal aspect is the intricate installation of a multi-story wheelchair lift. The project faced unforeseen moratoriums and facility closures, necessitating close collaboration between Adapt and the FAA to streamline scheduling and mitigate potential delays. Operating within confined site limitations posed unique challenges, as construction activities were confined to specific stairwells and adjacent zones. Despite these constraints, the team executed with precision and synchronization, minimizing disruption to both existing structures and ongoing site operations, given the continuous occupancy of the premises by the owner throughout the construction phase.

Antelope Flat Waterline Replacement

1240LT22C0030 | Prime Contractor | $145K | November 2022

This project encompassed the comprehensive reconstruction and expansion of the water system at Antelope Flat Campground. Central to the project was the installation of a 3-inch HDPE waterline, complete with heat fusion joints, and the integration of 3-inch metal ball isolation valves within existing concrete enclosures. The project entailed the incorporation of 2-inch metal drain gate valves and boxes, 3-inch metal gate valves, and 2-inch air-release metal valves featuring vent pipes. Operating at a remote project site, this endeavor presented numerous logistical challenges demanding meticulous planning. Adapt undertook value engineering, successfully substituting antiquated galvanized transitions and air release valve details, a modification endorsed by the Government as an enhancement in terms of system lifecycle cost, safety, and maintenance convenience. Throughout the project, Adapt ensured the uninterrupted operation of the existing water supply, maintaining owner access to valves and controls while excavating new installations parallelly within a narrow corridor. This was achieved without breaching archeological and environmental clearance boundaries. Despite prolonged procurement lead times and equipment availability limitations, Adapt navigated these issues by engaging multiple vendors and reducing the project’s carbon footprint through on-site screening of native materials for bedding purposes.

FW Reroofing for FRD, MRRD, and NKRD

127EAX21C0026 | Prime Contractor | $171K | July 2022

The project included an extensive roof replacement and renovation initiative for multiple Forest Service structures, notably including the Big Springs Mess Hall, Mormon Lake Warehouse, Happy Jack Ranger Station Quarters Buildings (5), Blue Ridge Ranger Station Quarters Buildings (2), and Jacob Lake Multipurpose Building.
